Add Maybelline To Your Travels For Gorgeous Globetrotter Instant Glamour

This blog post is all about how to travel in style, and answers the age-old question, “How do I travel so that I look good – and feel good – on the road?” That’s what my book The Globetrotter’s Get-Gorgeous Guide is all about. I’m just like you, even though I’m a beauty writer – and when I’m on the go, in far-flung destinations, I still strive to look my best. (And feel my best — but that’s another blog post!) Before I go, I get my hair colored, pluck my eyebrows, have a pedicure, and make sure that I’ve got my favorite cosmetics with me — so I’m ready for wherever my travels take me.

I’ve been a Maybelline fanatic ever since I was a teenager, and I am a loyal fan and unofficial brand ambassador. Among other Maybelline products, I’ve been wearing UltraLiner brown eyeliner for years. The price is right, it always looks perfect, and it goes on like a charm. What’s not to love? And I can always get my fix, right around the corner, at my favorite drugstores.

This spring, Maybelline has a cornucopia of cosmetics that you’ll want to stash in your suitcase, starting with Dream Nude Airfoam foundation. Let’s face it, foam foundation is a weightless wonder offering a flawless finish. There are lots of air-infused, foamy foundations out there – and you know who they are – but Dream Nude Airfoam goes on light and smooth, and even has an SPF of 16 (which is great when the sun comes into your window at 35,000 feet). At just $10.99, this is a beautiful bargain that offers results faster than you can say, “Walgreen’s.” Honorable Mention goes to Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB cream – which has the added benefit of titanium dioxide sunscreen in it, for a 30SPF. This dream cream covers ever-so-lightly while it brightens and evens your skintone. BB creams, which combine skincare and makeup, are the new kid on the beauty block, and Maybelline’s is one of the best I’ve tried – even outperforming other BBs that are twice and three times its price of $8.99. If you prefer to simply wear some concealer, I would recommend Maybelline Instant Age Rewind that contains Vitamin C as an added bonus. Its micro-corrector is a little magic wand sponge that covers dark spots, age spots, sunspots and undereye circles, while you look fresh and dewy (like Maybelline’s cover model, Christy Turlington).

If you asked some women — like Christy, for example — what they would take if they were stranded on an island, many would probably say “mascara.” Here are two to consider, whether you’re going to Bora Bora or Barbados: Maybelline’s new Falsies by Volum’ Express has a flared, spoon-shaped brush to give you the appearance of false eyelashes. It evenly coats lashes with a pro-Keratin fiber-enriched formula, taking them up and out-out-out-to-there. In addition, Maybelline has outdone even its own impossibly high standards with The Rocket Volum’Express mascara offering va-va-va-voom volume. At $7.77 per tube, you can lash out without making a dent in your wallet. Of course, bear in mind – in the beauty Hall of Fame is Maybelline’s iconic Great Lash in the pink-and-green tube, which socialite Ivana Trump, when I interviewed her for my book, told me she swore by. Ms. Trump told me, “I’ve tried everything but always come back to that standard Maybelline pink-and-green wand. Three coats with Maybelline and you don’t need false lashes.” On trips, she stashes her mascara in her crocodile Domenico Vacca handbag.

And, oh baby, there’s Baby Lips moisturizing lip balm, for those times when you just want something soothing — not waxy — on your smackers. The secret of Maybelline’s Baby Lips formula is a natural botanical plant called Centella Asiatica, which is native to – G’day, mate! – Australia, as well as India and Sri Lanka. Available in four tinted formulas including cherry and peach, it improves lip coloration and reduces the appearance of fine lines. I slather it on before I go to bed and always before I head to the gym. But if you crave a little color at Planet Fitness, you just might want to try Color Sensational High Shine Gloss – a wax-free formula in 12 shades, including my favorites Almond Crush and Glisten Up Pink. Also on the Maybelline menu this spring and summer is Color Sensational Lipsticks available in – get this – 68 shades, all featuring honey nectar (and with a yummy honey scent) to nourish your lips. You’re sure to find the perfect shade to complement your tan (even if it’s a fake bake). For divine digits, try this season’s terrific new reverse French manicures with colored tips; I’m loving the Color Show nail lacquer in Pinkalicious – it’s the berries.

There’s a reason Maybelline is the official makeup sponsor of Mercedes-Benz fashion week – after all, it is the Rolls-Royce of cosmetics – but always at a great, affordable price.
